Hello dear friends!
We know that the issue of hunger is big, but thankfully, our community is bigger. Please step up to the plate and help make an impact on hunger in Greater Hartford by donating to the 35th Annual Foodshare Walk Against Hunger.
For five years I have been working with The Fern Street Food Ministry at the Universalist Church of West Hartford. We partner with Foodshare to help our neighbors in need. I am so proud of the work we do. Our programs help over 300 food insecure neighbors every week! We reach school children, the elderly and those that simply need some temporary assistance during hard times. I am walking to benefit The Fern Street Food Ministry. That means that half of any donations I collect will directly benefit The Fern Street Food Ministry's Foodshare programs: Weekend Backpacks, Community Breakfasts, Mobile Foodshare Truck and our Food Pantry. The other half of your donation will benefit Foodshare and all the fine work they do. Last year alone, Foodshare was able to provide enough food for nearly 12 million meals to help our friends and neighbors in Greater Hartford. More than 1/3 of that food was fresh produce, giving families healthy options. The Fern Street Food Minsitry was a part of that amazing work! In supporting the Foodshare Walk Against Hunger, you will allow this important work to continue.
Regardless of how much you donate, please know that your funds are helping make sure all of our neighbors have access to enough healthy food. You can donate through my personal fundraising page, or by sending a check made out to Foodshare to 450 Woodland Ave Bloomfield, CT 06002. Please be sure to include my name and "Walk" in the memo line!
Thank you for your support. Together, we will be one step closer to a hunger-free community.
