Where we work

NEW - Foodshare service area by county 2012

Foodshare serves the Greater Hartford region, which consists of all 42 towns of Hartford and Tolland Counties. As Central Connecticut’s regional food bank, Foodshare is the liaison between the food industry and 300 partner programs – including community kitchens, emergency shelters, and food pantries across the region. Just as Foodshare receives food donations from wholesalers and private individuals, these partner programs receive food from Foodshare to help hungry individuals and families in their respective areas. We also provide an abundance of fresh, healthy produce to individuals through our Mobile Foodshare program, however, we do not distribute food directly to those in need from our Bloomfield warehouse.

If you need help, but you live outside of our service area, please contact the Connecticut Food Bank for more information.

As an organization focused on solving hunger, Foodshare is hard at work building town-wide collaborations throughout Greater Hartford. These groups – which include local government, social service agencies, faith groups, and schools – research the needs within their own community and discuss possible solutions to ensure everyone has enough. Learn more about these Hunger Action Teams and the communities in which they are making a difference.
