NEW - Foodshare service area by county 2012

OUR SERVICE AREA

Foodshare serves the Greater Hartford area, which consists of all 42 towns of Hartford and Tolland Counties. As Central Connecticut’s regional food bank, Foodshare is the liaison between the food industry and nearly 300 community partners – including soup kitchens, emergency shelters, and food pantries across the region. As Foodshare receives food donations from wholesalers and private individuals, these partner programs receive food from Foodshare to help hungry individuals and families in their respective areas. We do not provide food directly to those in need from our Bloomfield warehouse.

If you need help, but you live outside of our service area, please contact the Connecticut Food Bank for more information.

RAPID DELIVERY

One of the most successful programs Foodshare has embarked upon in recent years is our rapid delivery program.  Mobile Foodshare takes perishable food items such as highly nutritious fruits and vegetables to people in low income neighborhoods who need it most.   By working with a network of sponsoring community partners that provide neighborhood sites and the volunteers to manage them, we provided over three million pounds of produce in the past year. TOWN BY TOWN

As an organization focused on ending hunger, Foodshare is hard at work building town-wide collaborations throughout Greater Hartford. These groups – which include local government, social service agencies, faith groups, and schools – research the needs within their own community and discuss possible solutions to ensure everyone has enough.
