Becoming an Ambassador

NEW - Foodshare Ambassador 2011

SPEAK OUT AGAINST HUNGER

Education is the greatest weapon we have against hunger.  A clear understanding of why hunger exists will help us devise better solutions for eliminating hunger.  To spread the word, Foodshare trains volunteers to become anti-hunger Ambassadors who can speak accurately on the topic of hunger in our region.  These Ambassadors then make presentations to community organizations, schools, and congregations throughout the year, sharing their knowledge with others. Training is provided for each level, and volunteers progress as they feel comfortable.  Become an Ambassador!

Do you have a group that would like to learn more about Foodshare's work in the community? We'd love to schedule a time for one of our knowledgeable Ambassadors to visit, whether it's at your company, school or an event. We give speeches, host informational tablings, and provide interactive Hunger 101 workshops. Please submit a request and we will be in touch.

LEVEL I AMBASSADORS

This is a great opportunity for anyone who enjoys speaking casually in a one-on-one setting or to small groups of people.  Volunteers typically cover public tabling events (expos, fairs, etc.) or help us here at Foodshare by giving tours of our Bloomfield facility.

LEVEL II AMBASSADORS

Volunteers share Foodshare’s message with public groups like schools, companies, community organizations, and places of worship.  Speakers are needed throughout the year, but there is generally greater demand around the holidays, during the United Way Campaign in the Fall, and leading up to the Annual Walk Against Hunger in the Spring.

LEVEL III AMBASSADORS

As an experienced Ambassador, you can lead a role-play and discussion activity called Hunger 101. Hunger 101 is designed to increase awareness and understanding of hunger, simulating the challenges of feeding a family on a limited budget.
